Borrow Autodesk hardware for your renderings
If you happen to render a series of large scenes, don't bother with snapping a new superfast hardware - Autodesk gives you its own hardware to perform this task.
Just login to the Autodesk Neon web service and upload your DWG file containing the 3D model (any size, any complexity), materials, lights and cameras. Then choose the camera (view), the output resolution, quality and the resulting file format. Now you have to wait a couple of minutes for your render to complete - rendering computation is performed on an Autodesk web cloud. Neon will send you a notification e-mail when your job or series of jobs is finished and ready for download.
This is perfect for last minute renderings when any computer in your office is too slow to complete the job before deadline...

Autodesk - ODA lawsuit ends for now
AECnews inform about the settlement in the Autodesk's trademark infringement lawsuit against ODA. The result is as expected - ODA has infringed Autodesk's rights by faking the TrustedDWG sign in its DWG libraries. An earlier court decision has already prohibited the Open Design Alliance to distribute these libraries.

Autodesk Men In Black
The Autodesk corporate web site (both the US www.autodesk.com and local www.autodesk.de) has a new black look. I hope that it doesn't mean dark future for Autodesk.
It confirms (to some extent) my November speculation about the design changes towards black. Well, the AutoCAD box is not black but the Inventor box is and Revit boxes are now black as well. It seems that Autodesk now distinguishes the old 2D "white" product line and new 3D "black" products. And as Autodesk wants us to buy the 3D products, the visual difference is as bold as possible. Simply - if someone offers you a white CAD box and a black CAD box - always take the black one...
